BEER INSTITUTE STATEMENT ON PASSING OF BILL COORS
Jim McGreevy, President and CEO of the Beer Institute, released the following statement after learning of the passing of William Coors:
“It is with deep sadness that I learned of the passing of Bill Coors–a true beer icon. Bill spent more than seven decades devoted to the beer industry, and this intimate knowledge of beer combined with hard work opened up new occasions and new styles of beer that people around the world enjoy today and will drink for generations to come. Bill was a dreamer–designing the modern recyclable two-piece aluminum can that is now the standard for how all beverages–from beer to soda–that come in aluminum cans. Bill is also recognized with the introduction of light, pilsner beers and the development of a proprietary, sterile-fill packaging technology that enables MillerCoors to provide consumers with brewery-fresh, packaged draft beers.
“We salute Bill for a life devoted to beer. Bill provided leadership to our industry throughout his life, and millions of Americans whose careers rely on our nation’s vibrant beer industry–from the workers on the brewery floors to the delivery truck drivers–is better because of Bill’s vision, innovation, and commitment.
“Cheers to Bill and a life well-lived!”
