Megan Parisi
Head Brewer, Samuel Adams Boston Tap Room
Boston Beer Company
Boston, MA
Megan Parisi’s career journey started quite far from the brew kettle.
As a clarinet performance major graduating from Boston University, Megan pursued her early career as a member of the U.S. Navy Band in Washington, DC. After five years, an injury forced her to change her career path and she decided to turn her homebrewing hobby into a full-time job. She believes these two passions are not as different as they may seem. The objective in both music and brewing is to blend art and science to create something that you can share.
Although Megan no longer plays the clarinet, she applies her affinity for arts and science and her perfectionist nature to everything she now brews. She started with The Boston Beer Company running the Samuel Adams Boston Brewery’s Nano brewery – where she honed the science of ingredients and the art of recipe development. Megan took on various roles at Boston Beer before opening the Samuel Adams Downtown Boston Taproom where she leads brewing and innovation as Head Brewer and enjoys the ability to think outside the box on a different scale.
“You’re always doing something,” she explains, “doing something different as far as flavor and profile, we have 20 tap lines and thousands and thousands of people walking by every week!” Megan recognizes that her success is due largely to hard work, but also a great deal of good luck and believing in herself. She encourages other women in brewing to dream big and explore beyond the beaten path.
