I was straight out of high school when I went into the military and just like most, I had no real idea what I was signing up for. What you see on TV and in the movies paints a different picture than what the reality actually is. For me, I adjusted quickly to the expectations and commitment that was in front of me. I learned to appreciate the values that were instilled in me through my time in service both in my personal life and in my work life and I can honestly say I do not believe I would be where I am now without that experience. Teamwork, discipline, self-control, anything worth doing is worth doing right, not to confuse effort with results, and always being prepared — these are some important things that I have carried with me and have tried to share with my family in all that I do.
