Beer Institute Poll: America Wants to Drink a Beer with Betty White
WASHINGTON, D.C. – With National Beer Day approaching on April 7, the Beer Institute released survey results of celebrities Americans said they would most want to join for a beer. The findings: nearly 1-in-5 Americans said they want to drink a beer with 97-year-old actress, Betty White.
“America has spoken, and they’ve said ‘thank you for being a friend’ to Golden Girl, Betty White by selecting her as a celebrity they would want to sit down with over a beer,” said Jim McGreevy, President and CEO of the Beer Institute. “Beer brings people together, and on this National Beer Day we toast Betty White, who has entertained multiple generations of Americans with her impeccable comedic timing and enduring charm.”
Joining Betty White at the party, Americans said they would also want to have a beer with Bill Gates, Denzel Washington, Oprah Winfrey and Lady Gaga.
April 7 marks National Beer Day, which commemorates the enactment of legislation signed by President Franklin Roosevelt in 1933 legalizing beer before other alcohol beverages were made legal by the ratification of the 21st Amendment, which ended Prohibition. On National Beer Day, we celebrate the many ways that beer belongs in our history, culture, society and the people we admire and would like to get to know better.
The nationwide survey, by Quadrant Strategies, was conducted from March 25, 2019, to March 29, 2019, on behalf of the Beer Institute. The survey was conducted online to 1,159 American adults, age 21 years old and older.
